Located on the outskirts of Eagle, the Treasure Valley's only state park has plenty of recreation opportunities for the summer enthusiast. Jennifer Johnston brings her children as often as she can.
"The kids love to swim in the water and then there's a play structure right behind us so it's great for the adults cause you can sit on the beach and the kids can play in the water and then they can go up onto the playground and when the waterslide is open they like to go down the waterslide too." says Johnston.
The park also offers hiking trails, a large fishing pond, two volleyball courts, horseback riding trails and disc golfing in the spring and fall.
"It seems like it's been a lot busier this year. I don't know if it's because of the economy or what. We were out here on Sunday and it was very busy on Sunday like huge families and stuff so you could barely get a spot." adds Johnston.
The park's day use fee will cost you $5, but you can purchase an annual pass for only $35...and that's good for all of Idaho's state parks.
Look for more things to do at Eagle Island over the next few years. Construction is already underway and the layout of the park will change to allow for canoeing, kayaking, ice skating, camping and more.
